PEDS-PAK logo Hi, we're PEDS-PAK.

We're working to help pediatric patients who need continuous infusion thrive. View our poster here.

We aim to employ empathic engineering to give pediatric patients mobility and freedom from the constraints of their IV pole. Our product offers a compact and portable alternative to standard infusion systems while maintaining complete compatibility with current hospital IV infusion systems. With PEDS-PAK, pediatric patients can seamlessly transition between treatment and playtime, while enhancing their recovery.

The Problem

Current continuous infusion systems pose mutliple problems for pediatric patients, decreasing their quality of life and ability to meet their developmental milestones. The following problems have been highlighted by nurses and parents of pediatric patients:

  • Limited mobility
  • Dangerous line breaks & kinking
  • No wearables designed for pediatric patients
  • Concealment designs rather than specialized

The Statistics

Each year, many pediatric patients are diagnosed with conditions that require constant infusion.

  • 15,800 children each year are diagnosed with cancer
  • 210,000 children each year are diagnosed with diabetes
  • 36,500 children each year live with immunodeficiency

Our Solution

GIF of the backpack being opened

With PEDS-PAK’s wearable and hospital-compatible design, pediatric patients can seamlessly transition between treatment and playtime, all while enhancing their path to recovery.

Our design has the following key features, making it functional while also being comfortable for pediatric patients.

Alerts and Alarms

The system includes alerts and alarms, both visual and audible, to alert healthcare professionals if there is an issue in the infusion.

Long Battery Life

The battery life of the system is long enough for typical lengths of continuous infusions.

Compatiblity with Hospital Systems

The system will be fully compatible with current systems used in hospitals, to make it easier to transition from a typical IV pole to PEDS-PAK.

Customizeable Exterior

The option to customize the system with their favorite characters allows pediatric patients to express their personalities.

Flow Rate Sensor

The system can detect flow rates and ensure that the rates match those programmed.

Patient Comfort

Weight distribution and minimized product weight makes PEDS-PAK comfortable for pediatric patients to wear.

Competitive Advantage

Competitive Analysis Chart

When comparing our product to other major market share holders, our design is portable, wearable, reusable, easily integratable, and safe, while also being specifically designed for pediatric patients.

Market Strategy

Distribution Strategy

Our two-pronged distribution strategy includes direct distribution to children's hospitals such as Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) as well as acquisition or distribution through Becton Dickinson, who makes the Alaris pumps our system will be compatible with.

3-Stage Revenue Plan

  1. Sell product to hospitals charging monthly subscription fee for replacement of parts
  2. License the design to IV pump companies (such as BD) to receive a percentage of each unit sold
  3. Get acquired by BD or a similar company by selling IP to the company for a sum of money
